Hey,

I'm Nicolas ILINSKI

I am a Senior Product Designer, Art Director and Design consultant with 24 years of experience.

After studying Design & Visual Communication (MA @Creapole ESDI) in Paris, I started my first job in 2000 as a layout designer in a publishing and press company. Then I became an Art Director for a little studio (2001-2005), working essentially on print, visual identity and branding projects.

In 2005, I became a freelance Art Director & Consultant. I wanted to work on very different kind of projects, industries and get to live my life as I want in the same time (nature, sports, travelling…). It went so well that, almost 20 years later, I am still living and working with the same freedom and autonomy! :-)

And there was

iPhone…

As we all know, Apple iPhone arrived in 2007, changing the world and digital designers entire universe and way to work.

In 2009, I made first contact with UI Design (which was far from what it is today), working for a French Tech mobile app agency (Cronos Mobile Agency) in Paris. We've made some great projects together as Musée du Quai Branly, Fédération Française de Cycylisme, Vente Privée, Château de Versailles, Banque Populaire, Natixis, …

Why D-LUX?

"Lux" means "light" in Latin. It is also the unit of measurement of luminous illuminance (lx) in the International System of Units. The letter "D" is for "Digital", simply because I work (in design as in photography) with digital tools, in a digital environment,

D-LUX = Digital Light, There you go, now you know (almost) everything! :-)

… and then came fintech

From 2015 to 2020, I became Product Designer at New Access SA, a Swiss company (Geneva) providing Private Banking & Wealth Management SaaS digital solutions. As I was the only Designer for over than 200 employees, I had to manage a lot of different projects (UI/UX, company visual identity, Web and marketing needs,…)

This is where I learned to work with Agile methods, Product Owners and great structured dev teams. Private Banking and Wealth Management are very complex environments, due to very high level of informations treatment, timing, security and confidentiality protocols and restrictions.

The challenge was constant: to make very complex daily operations easy and simple to carry out.
